I, Cuco Ceballos, am running for the LSB Listeners board for the purpose of returning the voice of the younger generations and the silent majority to the KPFK signal area. If we don't have their voices, how can we serve them, and how can we say we represent free speech and our community? How can KPFK become a part of the future?
Yes, we know what is going on in the rest of the world, but what about the folks and youth here at home? Who is going to carry us into tomorrow if we don't communicate with the youth today? First and foremost we have to stop fighting in-house and out, we must come back to our community. We have enough air space for the local, national, and international.
I have been a listener since 1967 . Many of us remember KPFK from those days of greatness. I want today's youth to have the same powerful voice for their messages and their movements. With your help, we can give them that.
I know our young people and our underrepresented communities. I am a teacher, a counselor, a business person, and an artist. I've worked on several boards and presently belong to The Tia Chuchas Community Board, The PAPEL Board, South Cetral Leadership Council , and The Action Now Board. I also teach for PAPEL, Tia Chuchas, and am a danzante for Danza Azteca Cuautemoc. I presently teach , Mexica History, the Aztec Calendar, and 2012. I've also taught in several prison rehabs, halfway houses, juvenile facilities, and abuse counseling facilities.

Si no tenemos, sus voces como podemos servirlos y como podemos decir que representamos la libertad de expresión y nuestra comunidad? Como puede KPFK hacerse parte del futuro?
Yo soy un oyente desde 1967. Muchos de nosotros recordamos KPFK en esos tiempos de grandeza. Quiero que la juventud de hoy tenga la misma voz poderosa para sus mensajes y sus movimientos. Con su ayuda, podemos darles eso.

1. Why do you want to be on the Local Station Board?
I want to be on the local station board to encourage the participation of the youth community which appears to be non existent at this time .
2. How do you envision the Local station Board working the Pacifica Foundation, KPFK, and the community?
I envision the L.S.B. working with the Pacifica Foundation, KPFK and the community in unity with full communication, respect, and understanding of each other; otherwise, divided we fall.
3. How could the station better serve its listeners?
The station could better serve its listeners by actually asking the listeners what they wish to express on a free speech radio and responding by giving them air time.
4. Describe some actions you would take to increase the influence of the station in under-represented communities and to increase the diversity of the listening audience?
To increase the influence of the station in underrepresented communities and increase the diversity of the listening audience, I would go into those underrepresented and give them the opportunity to speak. If I couldn't do it myself, I would send someone who feels safe in that neighborhood.
5. What sources of funding, other than listener donations, do you feel KPFK should solicit?
KPFK should advocate fund raisers within underrepresented areas.
6. Please state briefly the skills, experience, educational background, work history, organizational affiliations, areas of community service, areas of interest and expertise that you would bring to the Pacifica network as a member of the Local Station Board.
I have skills, experience and background in teaching, counseling, tutoring, business, art, aztec dance, music, poetry, and other academic fields. I've worked on several boards and presently belong to The Tia Chuchas Community Board, The PAPEL Board ,South Central Farmers Leadership Council , and The Action Now Board. I also teach for PAPEL, Tia Chuchas, and am a Danzante for Danza Azteca Cuauctemoc. I presently teach Mexica History, the Aztec Calendar, and 2012. I've also worked in several prison rehabs, halfway houses, juvenile facilities, and abuse counseling facilities.
7. On which Local Station Board Committees are you interested in actively serving? If you are a current Local Station Board member, on which committees do you currently serve?
I'm interested in forming a youth communications and dialog committee .The obvious place for my interests and skills is the Outreach Committee. For years, KPFK has talked about being a part of underserved communities. I commit to finding the people and resources to make that happen.
