Pacifica Elections 2009 Have Begun

The timeline for the 2009 elections is as follows:

June 1^st	Nomination period begins.
July 15^th	Nomination period ends. All candidates must have their forms in. Download forms here.
Starting July 15^th	Candidates will be given air time at their respective stations to share their vision for Pacifica
August 29^th	Ballots shall be mailed to all 95,000 members
October 15^th	ALL BALLOTS MAILED IN MUST BE RECEIVED BY THIS DATE!
November 15^th	The election will be certified if the quorum for the election is met.
Date of Record To run as a candidate or to vote, a person must have been a member in the period from July 16th 2008 to July 15th 2009. A person qualifies for membership by: Paying $25 to one of the stations Volunteering at a station for a minimum of 3 hours Obtaining a waiver from the Local Station Board.

National Elections Supervisor Ruling on Term Limits for the 2007 Pacifica elections

The following is the official ruling of the National Elections Supervisor regarding how provisions for term limits in the Pacifica Bylaws will affect this year's elections for Local Station Board:

Delegates who were elected to a short term on a Local Station Board in February 2004, then subsequently re-elected to a full term later in 2004:

Through proportional voting systems (commonly referred to as “proportional representation” or “full representation”), like-minded groupings of voters win legislative seats in better proportion to their share of the population. Whereas winner-take-all elections award 100% of power to a 50.1% majority, proportional voting systems allow voters in a minority to win a fair share of representation. Proportional voting describes a broad range of methods that require at least some legislators to be elected in districts with more than one seat.
