I am a UC graduate and have an M(I)PA in International Public Administration. I served SEIU 790 union chapter members and represented workers as twice elected bargaining team member and appointed SF Conference delegate. I'm a labor democracy activist and founding member of Public employees for a democratic Union. As a community activist, I worked for years on the UFW SF support committee and Cesar Chavez Street committee and election. I've been a practicing Zen Center and IYI yoga institute member I was an active progressive Potrero Hill Democratic club member and a current Green Party member. As elaborated in my statement and other question responses, I can bring my Freepacifica movement experience, knowledge, spirit and commitment to the LSB. I was an early, active Coalition for a democratic Pacifica (CdP) member, currently an active Peoples Radio member and long time KPFA member/supporter.
Dianne EnriquezI have worked in radio stations around the world for about three years. In New Zealand I worked as an assistant programming manager for an up and coming independent radio station. My duties there were to train a completely volunteer staff on announcing and equipment use. I helped set up rotation lists and new music features. I also helped with fundraising, outreach and advertising to increase listenership. Simultaneously, I co-hosted a world music show at the Hamilton Community Radio station in New Zealand. I am a former apprentice for KPFA and have direct experience with the inner workings of the station. Therefore, I am aware of how to run a station from the staff perspective and have a great respect for our highly skilled staff. I am currently working as a community organizer for Young Workers United in San Francisco which has enabled me to develop great skills for outreach, fundraising and the development for a vast network of people and organiza tions throughout the bay area whose connection into KPFA would only serve as a mutual benefit for the station increased commitment to diversity and the communities need for a progressive media outlet.
Sherry GendelmanI have been a community activist for nearly my entire life, involved in the Civil rights movement in my teens. I attended law school with a desire to address issues of racism in my lifetime. After practicing civil rights law for several years, I set aside the practice of law to involve myself in community organizing. I have also lived and worked in India for nearly five years on a variety of political projects. That experience expanded my understanding of people and cultures. I have been involved with Pacifica and KPFA since the late 1970’s.I have returned to the practice of law and represent hundreds of low income indivuals, the majority of who are immmigrants. I have passion, humor, intelligence and a dedication to strengthening our station through creative dialogue.

David HellerI am a former board member of Californians for Electoral Reform (www.CfER.org), I was the campaign coordinator for Berkeley’s (72% of the vote) Measure I campaign to bring Instant Runoff Voting (IRV) to Berkeley’s city elections. In my professional life, I manage building projects and need to coordinate and facilitate the wants and needs of various contractors, owners, architects engineers and building inspectors, many of whom have very different ideas of how they want things. This has given me an excellent background in problem solving and negotiating with various people with different ideas.
Warren MarI have spent most of my adult life practicing what I believed, organizing for economic and social justice. I started organizing youth and tenants in Chinatown in the late 60’s and early 70’s for jobs and low rent housing. I moved into labor organizing in the late 70’s and have organized workers for their rights in hotels and restaurants, and nurses in hospitals. I recruited and trained new organizers for the AFL-CIO when the federation seemed to move in a more progressive direction in the late 1990’s. Building broad coalitions, moving immigrants and working people to act on their own behalf is what I hope I can bring to KPFA. I will contribute to broadening our outreach and diversify our listener base.
Susan McDonoughI was a fundraiser for a solidarity organization in the 1980’s named Committee for Health Rights in Central America. And I’ve been a union organizer, both within the rank & file and as union staff, for close to 20 years. The skills I’ve learned and developed in all these endeavors can be applied to our efforts at KPFA to expand its reach, broaden its listenership and increase its financial base.
Antonio MedranoI already serve on the following boards: Rose the Riveter Trust, Vice President of the Ed Fund of West Contra Costa County, Chair of the Citizen Bond Oversight Committee for the school district, Chair of the Montalvin Manor Redevelopment Advisory Committee, Immigrant Task Force for West Contra Costa County. My other radio experience includes serving on the Board of KBBF – Sonoma County's bilingual public radio – 1999-2001. Produced/DJd a reggae program at KBBF in the 80s (not interested in doing a program on KPFA). In 1999 I co-founded North Bay for KPFA and organized fundraisers, teach-ins, and a large contingent of North Bay listener/supporters to demonstrate in front of the station. Currently, I’m with Voces Cruzando Fronteras, a group working to hold KBBF to it’s mission of serving the community. I also produce and promote events in the community: The Annual MLK Birthday Celebration in Santa Rosa, The Annual Progressive Festival, and other events and benefits for progressive organizations.
Richard PhelpsIt is difficult to briefly state the skills and experiences from 40+ years of work and community activity. Here are some of them. Thirty-three years as a listener/subscriber. Three years on the LSB, 14 months as Chair of the LSB. I resurrected the LSB Monthly Radio Report and developed a progressive format for the Report. While Chair I made sure that each scheduled program took place to help inform our listeners. I have authored several motions to improve transparency and accountability and democratic process on the LSB and in Pacifica. In my three years on the LSB, and the first year of its operation as a listener volunteer, I have participated on the following committees: PNB>Governance and Elections, LSB>Outreach, Personnel, GM Hire, PD Hire, Programming and the Local Election Committee>planning and vote counting. In my young adult years I spent 5+ years as a radio announcer/DJ on AM & FM. In addition to an air shift, which included news, I worked as director of public affairs, programming and music at different stations. I earned #1 ratings in the 18-34 age group against the powerful TOP 40 stations without a promotions budget and no contests by keeping my ear to the audience and giving them what they couldn't get elsewhere, respect and a progressive sound. In the 90's I did a few legal call-in programs on KCBS. In 1981 I did a music program on KPFA in memory of blues guitar player extraordinaire, Michael Bloomfield and in i988 I produced a program on Insurance Initiatives. Twenty-five years representing the diverse working population of the Bay Area in State and Federal courts, always the underdog against bigger firms and wealthy opponents. My clients have included William Mandel and Jack Heyman. For the past twelve years I have worked as a mediator for civil cases.
Mara RiveraI have been a listener – supporter since 1962 & participated in the struggles against a corporate style takeover during 1995 t0 2003, as part of the pro-democracy movement led by Take Back KPFA, Save KPFA, and now People’s Radio. I’ve been involved in democratically run community organizations for many years, most recently Direct Action to Stop the War, Jewish Voice for Peace, and I’ve worked at Rainbow Grocery Coop for 28 years, a collective of 200+ self-governing worker-owners. I have attended many LSB meetings and served on the Outreach Committee.
Paul RobinsI have worked with the station in several capacities for 25 years, both technical and non-technical. My day job is in high tech focused on the web, podcasts, and internet radio streaming. I bring this knowledge of the technology and industry to the board.
CC Campbell RockI am a veteran journalist and broadcaster. I have extensively covered community and governmental affairs. I am skilled in community outreach and organizing, fundraising, and recruitment of volunteers.
Tracy RosenbergI’ve been a manager in the nonprofit sector for many years (and the for-profit one before that – altogether for close to 15 years). I have excellent accountancy and financial management skills. I work professionally in media advocacy and progressive activism and know and understand many of the issues in remaining relevant, accessible, solvent and radical. I’ve been active as a volunteer (and occasionally employed by) KPFA on and off for the last 8 years (since 1999) and can put that experience to work immediately without a long learning curve on internal matters.
Gerald SandersBesides my 30 years of work experience as an IBEW union electrician I have participated in various social movements and groups for just over 40 years.

Joe WanzalaI have worked professionally in the areas of law, as a paralegal and in public policy as an policy analyst. My experience in the legal field is varied; I have worked in criminal law, mainly in the area of death penalty appeals. This experience has enabled me to gain an appreciation of the importance of key constitutional protections such as habeas corpus and witness the systematic attempts, especially over the last decade, to undermine them. I have also worked extensively in complex commercial litigation and as a public policy analyst for the State of California. In this latter capacity, my responsibilities have included conducting political and economic analysis and making policy recommendation to decision makers on a wide range of issues, from telecommunications to energy conservation. I believe that my professional background adds to my ability to perform effectively as a station board member as the role calls upon board members to develop sound policies , review and analyze the station budget, and ensure that the station does not lose sight of the Pacifica Mission.
Jim WeberAs a teacher for 40 years, I understand the collaboration needed to share power democratically to achieve effective consensus agreements.

I have followed and participated in KPFA/ Pacifica affairs since the mid 90’s. I was deeply involved in the fight against the ‘’highjackers ‘’ in 1999 and played a major role in securing the active support of my union in that struggle. I have served on the L.S.B. for the last two years and see our current battle as a continuation of that struggle.
