Welcome to the official website of the Pacifica Foundation Local Station Board Elections

Max Schmid Candidate Statement

I have been producing at WBAI since 1978, and have held a variety of paid and unpaid positions at the station over the years, including elected Arts Dept. rep to the Program Council for several years, Staff rep to the LAB, shop for several terms as steward in the United Electrical Union. I have worked in the Operations Department as paid staff since 1989, and was appointed acting Department Head of Operations for 18 months in 2002-2003.

The current situation at WBAI - membership at a low point, years of failed fund-drives, lay-offs imminent - is as dire as any time I can remember since I've been here. I fear for the continued existence of the station at the rate things are going. I hope that my decades of experience can help to turn the situation around before it's too late. If elected, I will represent the concerns of both paid and unpaid staff to the board.

fflefever: Wish I had a staff ballot! http://radioactivist.net
I'd vote for you (and for R. Paul Martin) among the top two.

I have worked beside you in the Finance Committee and appreciate your efforts there.

I have appreciated your quietly offering solid information to correct wild conjectures.

Unfortunately, I do not have a staff ballot--but I do not qualify for one. What stinks to high heaven is the fact that c. 25% of staff who ARE listed as staff voters HAVE NOT RECEIVED THEIR BALLOTS!

Something rotten at 120 Wall Street and/or in California. We need people like you and R. Paul and other independent candidates to investigate the "Justice & Unity" wrecking crew and see what's going on between them and Dan Siegel.

Before it's too late for the station.

WBAI is bankrupt. Dan Siegel of the Pacifica National Board is corrupt. He has been temporarily placed on the national board for one month to sabotage the elections and allow the WBAI and Justice and Unity corruption to continue

WBAI is bankrupt. These elections should be cancelled and redone due to the censorship of candidates that is taking place.
