Carletta Fellows Candidate Statement

My name is Carletta Fellows and I am vying for a seat on the WPFW Local Station Board. Like the mission of WPFW, I believe in being the catalyst of informing the uninformed, increasing the knowledge of the advent listener through quality programs, educating those who lack resources and engaging the population who go unnoticed and unheard. I have been an advent listener, volunteer and supporter of WPFW for about 5 years.

Revalyn T Golde Candidate Statement

Chuck Hicks Candidate Statement

My name is Chuck Hicks and I have been a Community Activist since the Civil Rights Movement I continue to fight for issues such as HIV/AIDS, Heath Care, Fair Housing Obesity and other issues that affect the poor and people of color.

Campbell C Johnson III Candidate Statement

My name is Campbell C. Johnson, III. I am a third-generation Washingonian who is fully committed to the progressive, educational and uplifting focus of Pacifica’s Mission Statement. Serving WPFW’s constituent community and advancing the Pacifica vision is a huge challenge in these turbulent times. I believe I possess the experience, skills and teamwork orientation to make a solid and continuing contribution to WPFW’s future advancement.

Luzette King Candidate Statement

My name is Luzette King and I have served on the WPFW Local Station Board since its inception in 2003. I bring a profound understanding of the culture of Pacifica and WPFW, and more specifically, a keen interest in ensuring that this vital community asset is managed in a way that would provide sustainability. Now more than ever, the mission of Pacifica is needed not only in the United States of America but worldwide, especially where there is a need to give voice to the voiceless. It is only with such collaboration that we can challenge the injustice that is inherent in this particular, global politico-economy that is perpetrated by the worlds most powerful.

Hello, My name is Marcel Reid, I am a candidate for the WPFW station board as a long-time listener and member. I have always been impressed with the way WPFW engages it’s listeners in issues and addresses community concerns. I am the president of DC ACORN, a grassroots organization that focuses on Poverty Tax in our communities. I have spent most of my career in recruiting/marketing. I think that experience gives me a unique perspective when it comes to helping grow WPFW ‘s audience. I am now actively involved in grassroots organizing on the both the local and national

Zarinah Shakir Candidate Statement

My name is Zarinah Shakir. I have been a listener member of WPFW for the past four years. Initially I ran for the Local Station Board in 2003. I placed near the bottom, but there were enough votes to carry me onto the board for that year. Because of the low votes, I had to run again in 2004. This election brought me to a three-year term.

My name is Gloria C. Turner. I am presently a member of the Location Station Board. I was elected to the Board in December 2004.

I am a social justice advocate focusing on expanding the rights of working class people through sustained community commitment, trade union leadership, and housing rights advocacy. I serve my community as a Union lawyer and an ANC Commissioner in Petworth Northwest DC where I live.
