WPFW Staff Candidates

Below are the Staff Candidates for the WPFW Local Station Board.

Yves Point du Jour Candidate Statement

My name is Jean Yves Point-du-Jour and I have been a Volunteer Programmer at WPFW since 1984. I am also known as Yves Dayiti, host of a weekly bilingual Haitian show named “Konbit Lakay” aired each Saturday evening after Caribbeana. WPFW has played and continues to play a significant role in this community. All of this is possible due to the dedication of Volunteers and Staff next to the immensurable support of the listeners. On August 15, 2007, I was elected to represent Volunteers and Staff on the LSB to serve the remaining term of a departed LSB Member. I am pleased to announce my candidacy as a Staff Representative on the local WPFW Board for the upcoming elections.

Thomas Pruett Candidate Statement

Blessed Love WPFW family,
My commitment to WPFW began over three years ago as I returned from working with many FM radio stations on the Atlantic Coast of Nicaragua, yet my love for WPFW and its mission began over ten years ago when as a teenager in high school I found one station that I could relate to 89.3FM. Its public affair programming echoed the many ideas I had formed through my interpretation of current issues and gave me a foundation for information, as well as a reference point. At that time the Jazz did not catch me to well, still WPFW’s diverse music programming always kept me listening, from the Blues, Zitaco, Reggae, African, and also the soulful hip-hopish Jazz Cleveland would play on Friday afternoons. Now many years later I find my self loving Jazz and all thanks to WPFW because if I had only known about the Jazz many commercial stations play I could never have formed the great love I now have for Jazz music.

Michelle Noodles Smith Candidate Statement

My name is Michelle L. Smith aka “Noodles” and I have been a volunteer programmer and radio host for WPFW 89.3 fm since January of 2005. In the fall of 2006, I was encouraged to be apart of the local station board for our station and this too has been an honor. I am also apart of several committees at WPFW as well. To me WPFW is a very positive and informative radio station; the history behind several of the programmers at WPFW is phenomenal as well; the WPFW staff (paid and non-paid) are truly family oriented. The quality of radio that WPFW offers you will never find any where else on the dial. To understand how compassionate our station is;

Joni Eisenberg Candidate Statement

I have proudly been a public affairs programmer on WPFW’s airwaves for many years, producing Heal DC since 1992. I have served on the Local Station Board for over three years now, and hope to remain for a final two years. I have gotten to know many of the on-air programmers, volunteers, and staff over the years, and listen to the station 24-7. I am committed to the jazz, to the justice, and to the much much more.

Kimory S Orendoff Candidate Statement

My Name is Kimory S. Orendoff, Programmer at WPFW 89.3 FM, Volunteer since 1985 – 2007, late night programming and community for 23 continuous years. I am seeking a position on the WPFW Local Station Board of Directors.
