OVERVIEW of FY07:

Two of Pacifica’s new sites were actualized in FY07 and steady work in many other areas has continued.

1. Pacifica.org – The new Pacifica.org is the centerpiece of Project “New Sites”, with a completely redesigned, and rebuilt website featuring many of the most popular Web 2.0 features available online.

CFO Preliminary Audit Report and Analysis

This report is a second installment and analysis of the preliminary FY06 audit report and also contains an Income Statement for November 2006. The audit report will be available in draft form at the Board meeting and the final audit by February 2006. The auditor will, however, will attend the January 2006 Board meeting to go over the draft audit for Board members.

WPFW 2006 YEAR END SUMMARY

Greetings Pacifica National Board members. I have prepared this year end summary to provide members with a month by month look at some activities the station has been involved in for 2006. This is by no means a list of everything WPFW has done this past year but it will help members of the PNB get a sense of what the station has done in 2006. Financially, WPFW generated 1,720,161.00 in total revenue in fiscal 06 and our pledge fulfillment rate exceeded 80% for the year.

WBAI Interim General Manager’s Report

Administrative/Fiscal

First of all, welcome to the first of what should be a series of progressively positive reports outlining the slow yet steady growth of what I think is New York’s premiere broadcast outlet, WBAI. Currently it appears that we’re unaware of our superiority, but it’s all about realization then application will follow. My friends, we are currently in the realization phase.

Administration

KPFT enters the second quarter of FY07 in relatively good shape. The FY07 budget for listener support calls for $1.245 million and current totals show over $351K income as of December 31, roughly 27% of the annual goal. Cash in the bank beginning the new calendar year was $277K. Membership continues to hover between 8,000 and 9,000.

Since the Pacifica National Board meeting held in September 2006, two significant hiring decisions have been made: an Interim General Manager for WBAI and a Network Programming Coordinator. The expectations are that a new General Manager can implement a needed recovery plan and overcome political stalemate at the network’s New York station, while a coordinator for national programming, guided by the National Programming Policy adopted in October, can promote effective collaboration in developing special broadcasts, programs and segments produced locally for wider distribution, and fresh, engaging national programs.

As we start a new year, and welcome a new PNB, the Pacifica National Operations staff has prepared this document as both an overview of our work, and a series of technical recommendations and considerations for the board and the Pacifica managers.
